Symmetrica

iOS (2015) / Android (2019)
Designer + Developer

Symmetrica is a twitch-reflex game, which I designed and built using Unity and C# for iOS and Android. The gameplay is easy to pick up and play on mobile, specifically being designed for portrait mode and utilizing a single tap control scheme. I released Symmetrica on the App Store in February 2015 and later on Google Play.

Launch Trailer

Leading up to the game's launch, I shot and edited this trailer over the course of five days in my dorm.

The UI

I focused on creating a simple yet atmospheric aesthetic using high contrast to easily distinguish the game's elements. Many of the interface elements subtly float about, which ties it together with the game's space-themed world.

Additionally, I kept the "back" button for all menus in the lower left, so it would be more easily reachable when playing one-handed.

The Game

The gameplay in Symmetrica is simple. The player needs to hold and release the screen to maneuver two ships with mirrored trajectories. The obstacles flying down are not always placed symmetrically, forcing the player to consider where each ship will go with each action.
